Exciting News!

When we commenced planning to commemorate our 25th year of Good News Lutheran College, we reflected on how best to capture the growth of the college and record our history, so our story is documented for generations to come. In doing so, we also honour those throughout the years associated with making a dream become a reality.

This week we received our final printed proof of our publication that reflects on 25-years of Good News. I am pleased to announce that our publication will be unveiled on the night of our Gala Ball which will take place on Saturday 10 September and each guest will be gifted with their own copy to take home.

Book Week and Jubilee Community Celebrations

This year’s Book Week “Dreaming with eyes open” celebrations, promote the values of thinking, being respectful, open-minded, imaginative, and creative. It was wonderful to see our Junior Years students, inspired by their reading, in their amazing costumes to celebrate Book Week.

We encourage our students to share what they enjoy reading, and to pursue an understanding of literature through a range of special activities during the week. Our focus on books included a special poetry performance for Preps – Year 2 and a visiting author, Andrew Plant, to speak to Years 3 - 5.

It was also great to have parents onsite to watch our dress-up parade. Today we also commemorated our 25-year Jubilee as each Junior Years' student received a plant to ‘Grow in God’s Love’, which they took home with them. The plant is a symbol of our appreciation of the congregation and community members, who volunteered their time to plant 300 gumtrees around the perimeter of the site some 25 plus years ago. This was to provide protection and to have something visually pleasant to look at, instead of barren land!

The Middle and Senior Years students also celebrated by dressing up and including at least one College colour (teal, red, white, or navy) in their free dress colours. Prizes were awarded for the ‘Best Dressed’ colour combinations and they enjoyed a sausage sizzle. The sausage sizzle is a symbol of our appreciation for the volunteers who spent many hours selling sausages to raise money for our college.
