Deputy Principal Staff and Students Report

School Life

Last week, what with a Reflection Day, numerous incursions and excursions, as well as the whole school Athletics Carnival on Thursday, shows we are certainly back into the busyness of school life. It was a joy and blessing to be together as a community for the House Athletics after a number of years of not being able to hold the event.  A big congratulations to the many, many students who participated eagerly and to the best of their ability in representing their House, and to those who were supporting and building their House spirit. Well done!

Vaping

You may have read in the media the increased prevalence of vaping or the use of E-cigarettes at school. This is something we have been monitoring and taking very seriously at Nazareth. One strategy we have in place just recently is inserting senses in a number of locations around the school that notify us if a student is vaping. With the adverse health affects and the unknown longer term impacts of vaping (as well as the fact that it is unlawful for people under 18 and very expensive) we really do not want students in our community to be engaged in this. We appreciate your support as parents, guardians and carers.

Cultural Richness

One of the many great things about our community is its cultural diversity with over 50 different cultural backgrounds within our community. To celebrate this we are desiring to have one cultural group present each time we have a whole School Assembly. Please speak to your child to see if they would like to proudly present the country of origin of their family (with some other students of the same background) to our community. It is great for us to hear and learn more about our different cultures. With out first assembly being postponed due to COVID we have some time to plan.

Term 3

It is a time as you are aware of students looking at their subjects and planning for the years ahead. It is a time where we are now back into the flow of the term and we encourage students to be working consistently. Please encourage your child to talk to staff if there are any issues or concerns, or anywhere support is needed so as we can help them to grow.

As always, parents please contact the College if there is anything we can do to support, or anything that may assist with your child’s progress and wellbeing.

God Bless.
