On Tuesday this week we celebrated Grandparents' Day at our Primary Campus. Following two years of Covid-19 restrictions limiting our opportunities to have visitors on site, we were blown away by the numbers of attendees this year! The hall was packed to the rafters, with standing room being the only available space remaining!
The highlight of the liturgy was certainly the angelic singing from all students, which provided a memorable soundtrack for the family members who were able to be there. Grandparents and families were then able to enjoy a picnic lunch in the sunshine with the children. We would like to thank all grandparents and family members who were able to join us for this special occasion.
Congratulations to our Year 6 students who performed well on our annual Year 6 Religious Education Test. All Year 6 students in the Armidale Diocese sit the test each year. Our results are above the Diocesan average. We had 8 students achieve a High Distinction, 28 Distinctions and 35 Credits.
On Monday, Father Paul presented the students with their High Distinction Certificates.
Students pictured below with Father Paul are:
Back row: Evie Jackson, Isabella Brydon, Leah Boreham, Meredith Gilbert, Maye Hatton
Front: Will Tomlinson, Isla Grills and Jasmine Ryan
The Sacrament of Confirmation will take place on Sunday 18th September at Mary Help of Christians Church. Students wishing to receive the sacrament must be baptised and have received the Sacraments of Confession and Eucharist.
Students will be required to enrol in the sacrament by attending an Enrolment Mass this weekend.
The available Mass times are:
Saturday 30th July at 5.30pm
Sunday 31st July at 9.00am or 5.30pm
Please hand in the enrolment slip and have your name marked off before Mass.
As part of a focus by the Catholic Schools Office in Armidale, Real Talk has been invited to speak to every Year 4, 6, 7 and 9 student across the 24 Armidale Diocesan schools. Real Talk visited the Year 4 and 6 students at our school last year, and we are excited to have them visit again this year! Real Talk will be facilitating a session with the Year 4 & Year 6 students on Wednesday 3rd August, discussing topics of self worth, personal identity, good decision-making and cyber-safety.
With a new start to the term, here is a reminder about library days for your child. Library bags on library day are an expectation and borrowing a variety of books greatly exposes your child to new vocabulary and spelling BUT, even more importantly, new points of view, environments, situations and characters. Reading builds EMPATHY!
We have a beautiful, growing library collection at each campus, so please ensure your child has an opportunity to take advantage of that.

To know:
Another gentle reminder that this year's Premier's Reading Challenge closes on Friday 19th August. If you nominated to complete this at home with your child, please be noting the books on your PRC Reading Record log. Friday 19th August is a hard finish line and the organisers will not accept admissions after that.
Primary: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday every week.
Infants: Thursday and Friday every week.
Both campuses are open:
From 8.15am for Early Bird reading and sticker collecting; and Recess and Lunch in playtime for reading, drawing and various clubs.
See you in the Library,
