From the Principal

Dear parents and carers

Welcome to week 5. Congratulations to the girls who participated in the Crows Cup on Friday last week.  A lot of fun was had playing in the muddy conditions. The girls were competitive and were thrilled with their 3 game win. Overall the girls placed 4th. On Tuesday this week,  a selected group of students played in the North Region Basketball carnival. It was a great day with teams from around the area coming together. This was the first time this Catholic Regional Basketball Carnival has been conducted. The venue was first class and so where our students who participated and showed great sportsmanship throughout the day. Well done to all and we look forward to raking part again next year. Thanks to Mrs Marino for co-ordinating our teams at both events.

Please keep the date free for our annual Sports Day. It will be held in Term 4 on Friday 28th October, Week 2. We look forward to seeing the community come together and celebrate a great day.

At last week's Board meeting, the Architects presented the latest plans and drawings. The three images below are part of the presentation. The full scope can be viewed at school next week. The image below is the new Administration Building on Barrington Street.

The current toilets will be demolished and the area outside them landscaped as below. Entry to the toilets will be on the southern side of the wall on the right. This area is currently covered in a solid structure, it will be replaced by a sail. A garden will soften the area with new levels making gym access easier.

The Library will move to the current Administration Area and the existing area will become an Italian/Art Space as below. New windows will be added to the western side, allowing light in and an open feel to the space.

We are progressing well through the planning stage and hope to have it out to tender in late October/early November.

A reminder that we will be celebrating Book Week tomorrow, with the highlight being our parade around the block. Staff and students will exit via the Barrington Street gates and turn left to journey along the footpath until they find themselves back at their departure point. Upon their return, the children are keen to host all present with a "walk through" of their rooms and see some of the wonderful work they have been doing.
