This term we are working on CO-OPERATION
and next week we are looking at
Making Decisions in a group
Make sure everyone has been heard and check for agreement before the group decides.
You may often find yourself in a situation where you have to help make a decision as a member of a group. Sometimes this might be in the classroom and sometimes this will be in the playground.
When MAKING DECISIONS IN A GROUP remember to:
- Have someone in the group make a suggestion and give good reasons.
- Ask each person in the group, one by one, how they feel about the idea.
- If there isn’t agreement, ask for another idea and then check how everyone feels about this one. Keep doing this until you get a decision most people are happy with.
When MAKING DECISIONS IN A GROUP remember NOT to:
- Only ask one or two people how they feel about an idea. Check with everyone.
- See it as ‘losing’ if your idea isn’t accepted by other people.
