LITERACY INTERVENTION @ CEPS

Context -

Over the past 2 years, CEPS has offered literacy intervention as a means of supporting students across the school who are making slow progress in Reading, for whatever reason, and require additional support to what can be provided in the classroom setting.

In 2022, CEPS utilised the MultiLit (Making Up Lost Time In Literacy) program which is grounded in scientific evidence-based best practice.  The approach of this program is to find out what skills students do have and which areas are cause for concern, and to then fill in their knowledge with direct, systematic and intensive teaching of these skills.  Robyn Apostolopoulos and Kerry Emmanouil have overseen the running of the MultiLit program and their team of instructors have been very pleased with the results to date, with a number of students transitioning off the program due to their positive growth.

Moving Forward -

Moving forward, teachers will be upskilled on their ability to utilise many of the strategies from MulitLit, better equipping them to support the teaching of decoding in the context of the classroom.

GREENHOUSE PROJECT

Thank you to everyone who has already donated their spare plastic bottles so far, we are well on our way to getting the greenhouse up and running.

We still need more bottles, so please continue to bring in your spare 1.25L and 2L bottles and put them in the donation box at the office.

Please make sure to rinse the bottles before bringing them in so there is no spillage.
