Shrek - the Musical
Shrek - the Musical hit the stage to laughter, smiles and thunderous applause in late July!
We were overjoyed with the outcome of months of rehearsals despite a few set-backs encountered along the way, including a change of Musical Director, change of venue and Covid lurking behind the scenes! Never-the-less, the cast, crew, and creatives were incredibly positive and resilient and managed to pull together and present a joyous and fun-filled show! The energy in the theatre was electric!
The feedback received from our audiences has been wonderful and we think it is only fitting to wrap up the show by sharing some short reviews and reflections from students (of 7T3) and staff.
I just can't say that I didn't love it. Because I loved it. The choreography, acting, set production and band were insane! The amount of skills and training and commitment it must have taken from the whole cast is unbelievable and honestly it was one of the most well displayed and visually stunning musicals that I have seen in a while.

Lord Farquaad had a perfect actor. He should get a medal of honour. In the movies, Farquaad was the second best animated villain (Aloysius O’Hare had him beat), and in the musical that wonderful essence was captured perfectly. When your casting is so recognisably Faarquad, that even his brow, chin bone and eye muscles are iconic, then you have a great person for the role. Ten out of ten for the Lord Farquaad master. I wasn’t going to review the Shrek musical, but it needed to be said.

Shrek is a perfect example of how staff and students worked together on a show that everyone should be very proud of. A fantastic opportunity for our community to be provided with an outstanding show, a marvellous sample of how we work together, how we celebrate our achievements and how enjoyable our Performing Arts program can be.
The Musical highlighted the diversity of our Performing Art Department with students and musicians from all year levels. It brings people together through singing, playing, acting, and dancing and helps pass on knowledge and wisdom to the audience and performers using artistic means of communication. Congratulations everyone!
