Year 12 Formal

Wantirna College’s Year 12 Formal, 2019

On Saturday the 27th of July, we had our 2019 Year 12 Formal. As part of the  Year 12 Social Committee, we worked together to make the event an incredible and memorable evening. We were responsible for organising the entire Formal from beginning to end and once we had chosen our venue, DJ and Photographer, we had to write and submit proposals for the event to the School Council. After getting approval, the committee spent a lot of time making our dream a reality by selling tickets, choosing and organising the seating arrangements, menu, entertainment and running plan for the night.

After two terms of hard work, our Formal was held at Showtime Events Centre at South Wharf, a gorgeous venue including a marque and dining hall with a dance floor. Not only did the venue have a 2 metre Hollywood style lightbox reading “Wantirna College's Year 12 Formal”, but we were able to order balloons to further decorate the venue and hire a Photo Booth.  We sold nearly 200 tickets and got to enjoy our night with a 3 course meal, a DJ, Photo Booth and Photographer. We even had a rap performance by one of our own and after dessert, awards (voted by the year level) were given out. These included: Best Bromance, Best Comedian, Gift of the Gab and Best Dancer on the Night. Overall, the Year 12 Formal was definitely worth the hard work as we all had a wonderful night.

Having to balance the large time commitment required for planning the event, alongside SAC work and even other leadership commitments, itwas tough, however, the committee had an incredible amount of support from all of the staff and students, especially Ms Ford and Ms Mingos. So thank you to everyone who supported the committee in making our year 12 Formal a truly memorable evening.
