In-house Film Festival

Audience Choice award went to the Year 9 Media class for Mob Suit infomercial

PIFF Junior 7-10

by John Collins, Media Teacher

PIFF Junior was a terrific success, and it was great to see many of our 2018 Year 7s  and their families join us after the transition day BBQ.

The breadth of different styles and genre of film showcased was astounding, including horror films, documentaries, psychological thrillers, mockumentaries, absurdist pieces and detective flicks.

Taking out the student panel award for Best Film was a collection of Year 9 students - Nichaud Kuti, Audrey Robinson, Abbie Moyle and Rosie Blight - for their detective film, Serpents of the School. The Audience Choice award went to the Year 9 Media class for their Mop Suit  infomercial.

Congratulations to everyone who presented their films for our viewing pleasure.

Best film: Serpents of the School

by Rosie Blight, Year 9

Our film, Serpents of the School,  is a comedy-style murder mystery based around three quirky friends who find themselves caught up in the middle of the tragic murder of their favourite teacher. A detective is called in to investigate and through multiple interrogations it's up to him to figure out who the culprit is.

Challenge wise, in the original script teacher David Cobb had played a somewhat significant part as a red herring, but unfortunately he left before we were able to film his scenes which meant we had to slightly alter the script. Overall however I really enjoyed making this film - it's always fun when you're able to incorporate teachers, and we enjoyed acting as such unique characters.
