HICES Athletics Success

What an incredible year it has been for our HICES Athletics Team! The dedication, commitment and positive attitude shown by our students throughout the season have made this one of our most successful years yet. Every student should be incredibly proud of their achievements. All team members improved their school carnival results, with many achieving impressive personal bests. We were also thrilled to celebrate students who were named age champions, recognising their outstanding performances and achievements across the carnival.

A particular highlight was seeing the strength of our team as the largest HICES team from our school to progress through to the CIS Carnival. This is a fantastic achievement and reflects the hard work, determination and commitment our students demonstrated throughout the season. Beyond the results, one of the most rewarding aspects was watching our students support and encourage one another. They celebrated each other’s successes and proudly represented our school with enthusiasm and excellent sportsmanship.

Congratulations to every member of the team on a truly outstanding year. We are incredibly proud of their achievements, dedication and the way they worked together as a team. We look forward to seeing what they can achieve next year!

U11 Kinetics

From Coach, Ms Emmah Caruana

It has been an amazing privilege to coach the Kinross Kinetics this season. We started our competition season with two impressive wins, quickly becoming the team to beat. The season has since been a rollercoaster of experiences, with the team learning how to work together to achieve their shared goal of success on the field.

While we have experienced some losses along the way, the growth and development of the players have been outstanding. Throughout the season, the team has significantly improved their skills, gained a better understanding of the positions they are best suited to, and developed stronger defensive strategies to respond effectively to attacking teams.

Our players have not only learned to work together within the Kinetics team but have also collaborated with other Kinross Wolaroi soccer teams, including the Under 12 UN1 Athenas and the Under 12 Thunders, to further develop their skills. The Kinetics have also supported the younger Lightnings team, demonstrating teamwork and school spirit across the entire Kinross Wolaroi School soccer community.

A special thank you goes to our wonderful parent community, who have come out every weekend to support the team, assist with warm-up drills, and encourage our players. We would also like to acknowledge the many School community members who have contributed their time and support throughout the season, including helping with refereeing duties.

The Kinross Kinetics should be incredibly proud of their progress this season. We look forward to finishing the season strongly and continuing to build on everything we have achieved together.

U9 Blue Lightning

From Coach, Mrs Brooke Church

What a fantastic 2026 soccer season it has been for the Under 9 Kinross Wolaroi Blue Lightning team!

Our newly formed team began the season with a mix of experienced players and others who were stepping onto the soccer field for the very first time. Throughout the season, the team worked hard to develop their skills and confidence, learning everything from successful corner kicks and sideline throw-ins to using the wings to move the ball quickly down the field. Most importantly, they developed their dribbling, passing, teamwork, and game awareness. One of the team's favourite activities was practising their "Power Kicks" as they aimed for the back of the net!

Every game was filled with enthusiasm, determination, and a willingness to learn. As the season progressed, the players' understanding of the rules, their soccer skills, and their sportsmanship continued to grow. It was wonderful to see teammates celebrating goals, cheering on spectacular saves by their goalkeepers, encouraging one another, and recognising great moments of skill and effort on the field.

The joy the players brought to each game, along with the friendships they built and the support they showed one another, made Blue Lightning a truly special team to be part of.

Congratulations, Blue Lightning, on an amazing season!

Under 12 Thunderstruck

From Coach, Ms Tania Laffey

It has been a hectic soccer season for the Thunders, with plenty of double headers and exciting moments along the way. Throughout the season, the team demonstrated an increasing ability to use positioning and passing strategies to create opportunities and get ahead.

There were certainly moments when fate seemed to be against us. Balls bounced between goal posts, somehow failing to cross those last precious centimetres, while offside calls occasionally saw goals we had already celebrated taken away. However, there were also plenty of highlights, including some fantastic hat tricks that gave the team plenty to celebrate.

Most importantly, every player showed development across the season, whether through improved skills, stronger teamwork or a greater understanding of the game. The progress of the team has been fantastic to watch.

A massive shout-out goes to our parent coach, Chris, who attended every game, managed substitutions and constantly helped the players with their positions and game awareness. His dedication and encouragement have been a huge part of the team's growth.

Congratulations to all the Thunders on a fantastic season ' a season full of hard work, learning, teamwork and plenty of memorable soccer!
