Explore the Learning in Grade 2


The students have had a brilliant start to their final term of Grade 2, In English, the students have begun a novel study, based on the text 'Wandi', By Favel Parrett. The students will explore the question, 'Is it possible for a young Alpine dingo cub to survive being taken by an eagle?' Students will review their understanding of nouns, verbs, adjectives, homophones and homonyms through vocabulary taught in this text. Some of the vocabulary taught includes: dreamland, ambush, destructive, slumped, superior, hopelessness, gurgling, agony.


The students will also be learning about writing a narrative. They will write a paragraph for each of the following topics: settings, feeling, characters, problem.
Students will be learning about 3-digit subtraction (re-grouping once), writing fractions and time (using clocks).
This term, we are trialling a 'rebrand' of Inquiry called 'Creative Connections.'


What Creative Connections is:
During Creative Connections, the students will be creating artistic responses to 'Wandi,' such as portraits of characters and landscapes.

4th November: Public Holiday Melbourne Cup – no school for students
13th November: SCHOOL CONCERT DAY! Rehearsal during the day and students to be dropped by parents at Costa hall at 5:00pm. Show starts at 6.00pm.
1st December: Prep to Grade 3 Swimming program begins
9th December: Whole school transition day
11th December: Christmas Picnic at 4.30pm
15th December: House Sports Day
18th December: 9:15am Final Assembly
19th December: Last day of Term 4 - casual dress
27th January, 2026 - First 2026 school day for staff
29th January, 2026 – First 2026 school day for students
