St Augustine's 7-12 Athletics Carnival
The weather had the final say for our scheduled carnival on Friday 5th September. Luckily things looked much brighter for our rescheduled day on Monday the 8th.
Our students turned up in a bright array of costumes, ranging from full body painted Smurfs to a racing rooster and we were even blessed to have the Jamaican Bobsled Team attend!
As always, our Year 12s took part in the spirit of the day and participated in many events throughout the day. It was great to see some of our younger students joining in and giving their all for their house.
Our relays concluded the day with a number of teams entering across each of the races. To wrap things up, our annual staff vs student relay was one for the memory bank. With several staff restricted to the sidelines we had several new faces step up including Miss Lewis, Purple Pete and making his debut after 15 years, Mr. Lane!
Although the students comfortably took the honours, the sight of Mr. Lane running the back straight with his Hawaiian shirt flowing, whistle blowing and legs pumping will live long in our memories.
At the conclusion of the day, Delany were named champions with Brigidine and Augustine trailing not far behind. The shield was collected by house captains James and Ava with a stirring speech delivered by Jack for the future Delany athletes.

Years 9/10 State Soccer Championships
Recently, the College was represented by the 9/10 boys soccer team at the State Championships. After qualifying through regionals earlier this year, the team travelled to Melbourne to participate in a round robin event.
In windy, testing conditions, our first game against Ballarat High School did not get off to the best of starts, conceding three goals in the first half. However, after half-time the boys felt more settled and had more control of the ball and were able to have more time in attack. With no one troubling the back of the net in the second half, it finished at 3-0.
We then played Glenroy, who were well drilled and passed the ball extremely well. But our defence held up well all game, and we were able to get under the skin of a few of their best players as they couldn’t find a way through. Unfortunately, we couldn’t hold them off all game and they managed to find the back of the onion bag. A hard-fought 1-0 was the end result.
In our last game, we came up against fellow Goulburn Valley representatives in Notre Dame College. It was an end-to-end game with many chances from both sides. We went down early, but threw numbers forward and won ourselves a penalty late in the second half. Unfortunately, the penalty and the follow-up was saved and they then went down the other end and scored again right on the final whistle.
Although there were no wins for the boys, they were able to hold their heads high at State level. Ethan G and Sam O were solid in defence all day. Antonio D had good touch in the midfield and Max S's speed was eye-catching throughout. James P was a good focal point up front, and Wil H was worth his weight in gold between the posts. All boys represented the College to a very high standard and played great soccer throughout the day.

Year 8 Boys Cricket
A group of Year 8 Boys headed to Kyabram P-12 to play a cricket qualification match in Week 7. After losing the toss, the boys were sent in with Toby and Archie assuming the opening roles. After a cautious start, the boys upped the ante and the runs flowed. Toby continued to rotate the strike and Archie struck multiple boundaries on his way to a score of 65.
A number of boys came in during the last five overs with cameos from Riley, Jonty and Regan. With a score of 125 on the board, the team was confident they could defend it. Skipper Billy went with Tom and Diesel with the new ball. Both bowled well with Diesel picking up the first wicket. All bowlers who came on did a great job with Sam, Regan, Kade and Clay all keeping the runs down. Tyler was able to pick up three wickets to round off the day.
