9-12 Community News

As we have moved towards the end of another busy term, the students and staff of the 9-12 Community have continued to throw themselves into the life of the school and their communities.

Over the past term we have spent time analysing our BOC data, we have observed a significant increase in students arriving late to school/TA and to class. We have had a ‘blitz’ over the past week, supporting and encouraging students to ensure they arrive promptly to all lessons. We are also running a little competition, with weekly canteen vouchers up for grabs and a major prize of a Bennett’s voucher that will be awarded at the end of the term.

There was a huge improvement in our data last week.

Congratulations to Shylee D, Year 10, who was our Week 7 winner.

In Week 6, the school gathered together for our St Augustine’s Feast Day Mass. It was a lovely celebration and reflection with the highlight being the opening of the time capsule from the Year 2000. Thank you to our Year 12 leaders for their dedication and professionalism in helping lead the event.

The assembly also provided the opportunity for students and staff to hear from our 2026 College Captain nominees. The nominees, Charlie Miller and Dylan Priest, delivered inspiring speeches, outlining their leadership aspirations for 2026. We are also fortunate to have had 12 Year 11 students nominate themselves for other leadership positions in 2026, which is a credit to the student’s willingness to serve the school and the wider community.

These aspiring student leaders will look to emulate the excellent role modelling shown by the 2025 student leaders, whose outstanding contributions were exemplified by the respectful speeches delivered by College Captain, Tia, at last week’s Lone Pine Commemoration ceremony.

We enjoyed a very successful sporting day at the 7-12 Athletics last Monday. It was great to see so many students competing and supporting their houses and friends. Those who excelled in events went on to represent the College at the 7-12 Campaspe Regional event. Congratulations to those who advanced to the next level.

Last Thursday saw the College recognise the important men in the lives of our students with the Beaut Blokes Breakfast, which saw plenty of dads, uncles, grandads and mates gather with students and staff for a chat, a kick of the footy and an egg and bacon sandwich. This was a great way to start the day, which coincided with the celebration of Footy Colours Day.

On Monday, the Units 3 and 4 Agriculture Class visited Messina Farm just outside of Numurkah. Messina Farm milk jersey cows that produce all the milk used in the production of gelato for Gelato Messina. This milk from Numurkah ends up in gelato in 36 stores around Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Hong Kong and Singapore! The farm also produces all the mint and hazelnuts used in certain gelato flavours. Students toured the farm and learnt a lot about the supply chain of the milk and the quality assurance practices that are used in the business.

Year 12 student Molly, was recently awarded the prestigious Victorian Ambassador for Dressage Discipline by Dressage Victoria.

This award acknowledges Molly's contribution to the sport over a number of years having displayed leadership qualities and expertise in a number of areas. Bridging passion, dedication, riding skills and leadership, the Young Ambassador award celebrates the next generations of Equestrian Leaders.

Molly's dedication and talent was evident at the training event held at Werribee Park in June.

We congratulate Molly on her fine achievements and look forward to seeing what the future holds for Molly.

We also wish her well in Brisbane next week as she awaits further information about additional scholarship and awards relating to the Equestrian Industry.

We are very proud of you Molly and Good Luck.

As we move towards the final weeks of Term 3, there are still many events to look forward to. Years 11 and 12 are reaching the end of their Unit 3/4 studies and will be gearing up for their final assessments and exam preparations. In the coming days, staff will be preparing revision guides and advice for students to follow over the final weeks of their Units 3/4 studies.

Holiday study sessions

During the second week of holidays, the College will be holding a number of Units 3/4 study sessions. Due to a number of factors such as staff availability, student interest and timing of actual exams, not all subjects are being offered this year. To comply with Child Safety and VCAA equity measures, please take note of the conditions below.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

All sessions are two hours long.

No new content can be introduced.

Students must sign in at front desk. Once the session is over, students must sign out (ie they cannot stay onsite during the lunch break).

All sessions will be held in the Kildare building (Year 4 rooms). Students cannot leave this area. The Tolle Lege building is not accessible as there are works occurring with the J Wing.

At the end of Term 3, students should take home any study materials they may need for the sessions.

Toilets are available within the Kildare building.

Staff for each session will determine what will be covered, please speak to your teacher about this.

All information will be sent out to families via Operoo.

Please contact Katelyn McIntyre with any questions.

To finish off the term, we are looking forward to the third annual Staff and Student Caritas Courage Cup football match. In the lead up to the day, there will be a rigorous draft and team selection process, followed by guernsey presentations. If last year’s game is anything to go by, the crowd can look forward to being entertained by an exciting blend of skill, sportsmanship, mateship and fun. If you are free at lunchtime on the last day of term, please come down to the Kyabram Recreation Reserve to help cheer on the teams.
