Kitchen

It’s been a very busy fortnight in the kitchen!

Our Grade 6 MasterChef has now finished. The students created some absolutely amazing dishes.

Extended Cooking with Grade 5s has also wrapped up. It was wonderful to see how much progress the students have made with their skills – we finished the program by making delicious dumplings 🥟. We then sat around the table together, sharing our favourite foods and talking about what we had learnt.

In our regular kitchen classes:

  • Preps made iced donuts.

  • Grade 1s made pizza pinwheels – which everyone loved!

  • Grade 2s baked chocolate chip muffins and corn fritters, picking spring onions straight from our garden.

  • Grade 3s made iced donuts and chocolate chip muffins, carefully measuring out all of their own ingredients.

  • Grade 4s cooked corn fritters and cupcakes, also harvesting spring onions from the garden.

  • Grade 5s prepared a proper lunch, learning how to make both spaghetti Bolognese and a lentil Bolognese for our vegetarians.

STEM visited the kitchen for some cooking sessions with the Preps, 1s and 2s – we made savoury herb and cheese muffins, using fresh herbs picked straight from the kitchen garden.

The Kids in the Kitchen program is still going strong! It’s fantastic to see how confident the students are becoming in the kitchen.

Meanwhile, our kitchen veggie garden is thriving. We’ve been busy planting zucchini, pumpkin, capsicum, broccoli, spinach and plenty of herbs. We’ve also added some bright little flowers to help with pollination and to keep unwanted bugs away.

It’s been a wonderful fortnight of learning, cooking, and growing

Kind Regards,
