Grade Two

What a busy and exciting Term 3 it has been! Over the past 7 weeks, we’ve had so many wonderful opportunities to learn, celebrate and share experiences together.
In Week 6, we celebrated Book Week! With so many highlights to choose from! We all loved the fantastic incursion performance and loved listening to the mystery readers every day. In class we looked at The Gruffalo as part of our Julia Donaldson author study. Students created incredible Gruffalo character masks and proudly wore them during our special Book Week assembly.
In English, we have been developing our persuasive writing skills. Students have worked on sharing their opinions, learning how to use strong and emotive language, exaggeration and rhetorical questions to convince their readers. Our Julia Donaldson author study gave us the chance to look deeper into her imaginative stories.
In Maths, we created a unit to link with our excursion to CERES. Students collected data about rubbish, worked with calendars and time and explored measurement activities. We’ve been so impressed with the level of understanding and problem-solving the students have demonstrated.
Our Integrated Studies focus this term has been sustainability and the 6Rs (Reduce, Refuse, Repurpose, Reuse, Rot, Recycle). Students have created thoughtful posters showing how we can make our school a cleaner, greener and more sustainable place—you may see some of these displayed around the school soon!
As always, we are so proud of the effort and kindness the students bring to their learning each day. We look forward to the rest of Term 3 and the exciting learning still to come.
Thank you for your support!
