School Hats - Term 4

At Jells Park Primary School we are proud to be recognised as a SunSmart School

This means we are committed to creating a safe and healthy environment where children can enjoy outdoor activities while being protected from the harmful effects of the sun.

During Term 4 Staff and Students will be wear a broad-brimmed or a Legionnaire hat that protects the face, neck, ears and crown of the head when outside. Please see our policy below.

Our SunSmart practices include:

  • Hats on, hats off policy: During Term 1 and Term 4, and on any other days of high UV, all students are required to wear a broad-brimmed/Legionnaire school hat when outdoors.
  • Sunscreen use: Students are encouraged to apply SPF 30+ broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen before coming to school and to reapply during the day.
  • Seeking shade: We encourage students to make use of shaded play areas and outdoor spaces whenever possible.
  • Role modelling: Staff and parents are expected to support our SunSmart practices by wearing hats and taking the same protective measures when participating in school activities.

If you child requires a new school hat, they can be purchased from our uniform suppliers Spartan Uniforms https://www.spartanschoolworld.com.au/

2025 Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge

We have reached the end of the Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge 2025.

The final numbers have been tallied since it began earlier this year in March and we as a school have achieved some amazing results. Jells Park Primary School has read a total of 11,197 books and 218 students have managed to complete the challenge!

Thank you to all students, families and teachers for your participation and support this year. We hope it’s been a journey of discovery for each and every one of you and has only strengthened your passion for reading and joy of books.

PRC certificates will be issued and distributed during Term 4 and we will also announce the Top Readers for each year level across the school during an upcoming assembly.
