Contemporary springART 2025: A Celebration of Creativity and Community
Last Friday evening, we proudly opened our Contemporary springART Exhibition, presented by Booth Real Estate and hosted by Loreto College Marryatville. It was a vibrant night filled with creativity, culture, social connection, and artistic celebration.
The exhibition ran across the entire weekend, concluding on Sunday afternoon. One of the highlights of the weekend was the Artist Panel Discussion, hosted by Paul Turley, featuring artist and Curator Marisha Matthews, Feature Artist, Quentin Gore, and Emerging Artist, Tess Bartholomew. The panel provided insightful reflections on their creative journeys, artistic inspirations, and the paths that led them into the arts. Their stories captivated and inspired all who attended.
On Sunday morning, we were thrilled to welcome families back to the College for a relaxed morning of coffee and breakfast rolls (generously organised and run by the P&F) while browsing the clever Father’s Day Portrait Exhibition, created by students from Reception to Year 4. A huge thank you to all the families who joined us to support their children's creativity and the College. Funds raised from this year’s Contemporary springART will go toward supporting Loreto’s Artist in Residence Program. Established in 1999, this program provides students with rich, professional artistic experiences that inspire creativity, deepen learning, and enhance their education.
Contemporary springART is a joyful tradition that has been part of Loreto College for decades. Originally established by a small committee to raise funds for the newly purchased Karawood House in the 1980s, the event has grown from humble beginnings into a major annual celebration. On Friday night, we had the honour of inducting the founding committee as Life Members of Contemporary springART in recognition of their vision, initiative, and long-standing contribution to the College. Over the years, this event has thrived thanks to the efforts of many dedicated chairs, curators, and conveners, some of whom we were proud to acknowledge on the night. We look forward to recognising more contributors in the years ahead.
We are so grateful to be able to acknowledge the incredible team effort that made this event possible. With dozens of volunteers involved, including current and past parents, old scholars, staff, students and friends of the College - every role, from art collection and hanging, to catering, sales, and event logistics, played a crucial part in the smooth running of the exhibition. Thank you to each and every person who gave their time and energy. We simply couldn’t do it without the strong spirit of the Loreto community.
A huge thank you to our wonderful partners and sponsors:
