MYALL CREEK CULTURAL BURN

Cultural Learning at Myall Creek
On Tuesday 23rd September our Clontarf Foundation and Stars Foundation students were honoured to be invited to attend the Myall Creek Cultural Burn, hosted by Local Land Services and Local Aboriginal Elder Uncle Kelvin Brown.
Joining a group of around 50 participants, our students were warmly welcomed by Uncle Kelvin and introduced to the Local Land Services team. After a detailed safety briefing from the RFS, Uncle Kelvin guided the group on where to begin and explained the importance of the practice.
Students gained valuable knowledge about the purpose and benefits of Cultural burning and were able to experience first-hand how to conduct a safe, low, and slow burn.
A massive thank you to Michelle, Luke, James, Ivan and Wally from Local Land Services, the RFS for sharing their expertise and demonstrating safety equipment, and especially to Uncle Kelvin for his ongoing support and guidance.
