Welcome to Term 2

We are happy to welcome everyone back for the start of Term 2. Many students returned on Tuesday, looking forward to reconnecting with their friends, teachers and familiar faces around the school. As I visited classrooms, it was encouraging to see students settling back into their learning routines.

Term Focus

We have begun the term refocusing on the Living Well Learning Well rules for living, helping students to focus on their role in this. By emphasising that I am safe, valued, and respected, we create the supportive foundation necessary for every child to grow as a learner. We are hitting the ground running by being ‘ready to learn’ -  arriving organised, focused, and wearing our uniform with pride to represent the high standards of our school community.

Most importantly, we are challenging our students to remember that ‘everyone has a better day because I am part of the HTS team.’ This mindset shifts our focus toward the positive impact we have on those around us. Whether through a kind word or a collaborative spirit, being part of HTS means taking active responsibility for the happiness and success of our peers.

Learning News

All students have begun learning new topics across most key learning areas for the term. Staff are working hard to provide engaging and meaningful learning opportunities for students so they may develop themselves and their skills to the fullest. Some questions that you could use to find out about your child’s learning may include: What are you learning in … and why? How are you going with that? How do you know? How could you improve? Where do you go for help?

Our teachers will be focusing on assessment and curriculum planning in the coming weeks as we prepare for the Semester 1 reporting period.

What’s On

As we settle into the new term, please keep an eye out for our "What’s On" page, which is sent home every Monday. It provides a comprehensive outline of the events, opportunities, and activities planned for the week ahead. Additionally, the Holy Trinity School Calendar is available for viewing via our website. Whether academic, spiritual, or sporting, there are a wide variety of ways children are involved.

Events involving your child are published via COMPASS and a notification sent to you. Please ensure all event permissions are signed promptly as this helps our staff manage logistics smoothly.

Upcoming Events

We have an extensive calendar of events this term and encourage all families to participate where they can. Please keep an eye out for flyers regarding:

  • Mother’s Day Celebrations: We invite our mums, grandmas, and mother figures to join us for a staff-hosted pancake breakfast in the Infants quad next Friday morning. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to purchase a special gift from the P&F Mother’s Day stall.
  • School Events: We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events including Catholic Schools Week, the K-2 Cross Country, our Primary/Secondary Athletics Carnival, Jump Rope for Heart and our various liturgies and school masses.
  • Coming Soon: Parent Power-Ups! We are excited to launch Parent Power-Ups - a series of high-impact, 20-minute information sessions designed specifically for busy families. These "bite-sized" workshops will provide you with practical tools to support your child’s journey, covering topics like early reading and mathematics to understanding reports. Keep an eye on our weekly ‘What’s On’ page for upcoming dates and topics; they are the perfect way to gain valuable insights into your child’s learning.

PPEP Talk

Next Thursday May 7, Year 5 and 6 girls, will participate in an informative PPEP (Period, Pain and Endometriosis) talk aligned to Stage 3 PHDPE syllabus outcomes. Polly from the Pelvic Pain Foundation of Australia will present. There will be an opportunity for the girls to anonymously ask questions, however, some may still have questions when they are home.

Jump Rope for Heart - June 26

We are excited to announce our participation in Jump Rope for Heart this term with all of our K-6 students. It’s a fantastic physical activity program run by the Heart Foundation that also raises funds for a worthy cause. By taking part, we aim to get our students active and moving, with skipping ropes available on the school grounds and encouragement for everyone to help raise funds for lifesaving research and support programs. Children may of course use their own ropes! The program will conclude with our school-wide ‘Jump Off Day’ on June 26, where you are invited to see your child show off their new skipping skills. When you register your child online, you will gain access to additional skipping resources, giving them a great reason to step away from screens and get outdoors. Register and create your own secure webpage at www.jumprope.org.au/parents. By signing up online, you and your child/ren can easily track skipping skill progress, earn virtual badges, post updates so family and friends can follow their journey, access additional skipping resources and raise funds. For more information, please visit www.jumprope.org.au/parents

Wearing Our Uniform with Pride

Our school uniform is more than just clothing; it fosters a sense of belonging, builds school spirit, and serves as a vital tool for student safety both on and off-site. We ask that all students arrive each day in the correct, clean, and complete uniform, ready for a productive day of learning. Please ensure every item is clearly labeled with your child’s name.

Winter Uniform Transition: As the weather begins to cool, please note that students may transition to winter attire. During this time, students may choose to wear:

  1. The full winter uniform; OR
  2. The primary fleece or jacket over their existing summer uniform.

We kindly ask that you avoid mixing components (e.g., winter shirts with summer shorts), and please remember that the full winter uniform becomes compulsory for all students on 1 June.
