Dear Families
I would like to thank all members of our community for your thoughts and prayers on the sudden passing of former student William Mander. As shared in my previous correspondence, William was a registered organ donor who has so far impacted four lives through his generosity. William’s Dad is encouraging everyone to support Donate Life by considering registering as an organ donor - details are here. In honour of William, some of our staff will be donating blood when the Pop Up Clinic visits Sunbury in the middle of next month. If this is something you’d consider, follow this link. A tribute page for Will can be found here.
Finally, we ask that you continue to keep Will’s Mum Briohny in your prayers. While she is now out of ICU, her road to recovery remains a long one.

Art News

Over the Easter holiday break, St Anne’s was delighted to welcome the incredibly talented artist Bayley Mifsud, also known as Merindah Gunya, to our school. During her visit, she created a stunning mural in her First Nations style, thoughtfully incorporating symbols that reflect and celebrate our unique school community. The mural is not only visually beautiful, but also a meaningful and inclusive piece of Australian artwork. It captures the spirit of St Anne’s, our sense of belonging, respect, and togetherness, and will remain a source of pride for many years to come. We extend our sincere thanks to Bayley for sharing her talent, culture, and time with us, and for creating such a special piece for our school. We also thank the PTA for supporting the SRC in their fundraising efforts that helped make this project possible. The SRC continues to demonstrate creativity and leadership in finding ways to make St Anne’s the very best it can be. It has been wonderful to see the students’ reactions this week, their excitement and pride have truly been a joy. The Mural is located outside the senior toilets and is visible when walking down the main corridor. |
A huge thanks to Ms Sarah for her time and enthusiasm in turning this project from an idea into a reality. We are truly lucky to be able to walk past such an amazing piece of Art each day.
ANZAC Day
All members of the St Anne’s Community are invited to join the Sunbury ANZAC March on Saturday. The March leaves from near the Post Office at 9:45am and makes its way to the Cenotaph near the Village Green for the 10:15am service. Students attending are encouraged to wear school uniform to represent our school.
How’s this for a good news story connected to ANZAC Day? Last weekend, Year 2 student Poppy took it upon herself to bake and sell ANZAC cookies. With the help of brother Ziggy, she made her own collection box and set up a stand near her house, raising $119 over the course of the morning. She was so proud of her efforts that she’s going to do it again this Saturday afternoon. Good on you Poppy - what a great example of community spirit!

At St Anne’s we…
This term we revisit our schoolwide focus on “At St Anne’s, we are Responsible”. We encourage families to follow up by asking questions such as “How were you responsible at school today?” or by highlighting different examples of family members demonstrating responsibility at home.
