Captains Corner (Our Holidays)

This week, our School Captains will be sharing reflections on their recent holiday experiences. We hope you enjoy reading about the activities they enjoyed, the places they visited and the highlights of their break. This provides a wonderful opportunity for our student leaders to connect with the school community.
On the holidays I had so much fun hanging out with my friends, having sleepovers, watching movies like the Magic Faraway Tree and Project Hail Mary (which I highly recommend if you are looking for movies to watch) and taking part Easter celebrations like getting easter eggs and presents. On the first week of holidays my family and I went to Geelong and visited family near there. Most of my holidays I stayed at home, but I still had fun doing crafts, drawing, cooking and hanging out with my parents and older sister. I had sleepovers with friends and family friends where I stayed up late watching movies. By the end of the holidays, I was tired from all the fun so the last few days it was pretty slow and I was ready to go back to schol for term 2.

On the school holidays, my cousin, Dia visited from Singapore. She’s in 12th grade and tries to come in between her exam’s. We are super close and I LOVE hanging out with her! We went with my grandma to pick her up from the airport and I gave her the biggest hug EVER when I saw her! She stayed for one week and we did so many activities. On her second day we went to aqua aerobics with my grandma, it was really fun and there were a bunch of older people there. We also went and saw the Magic Faraway Tree. It was ok but I didn’t like it that much because they changed a lot of things from the book but overall, it was a nice family movie. Then the next day we went and played badminton with my grandma. It was Dia and my brother, Liam, versus my grandma and I. My grandma was extremely competitive and beat the other two, but I wasn’t that good because I haven’t played in a while. At the end I was much better after playing badminton for an entire hour! Dia left on the first Sunday of the school holidays and I was really sad to see her go but she did have exams to go back to. On the second week of the school holidays I went and watched Project Hail Mary with my family. I found it EXTREMELY sad and cried for an 1hr and 40 minutes. It was a 2hr and 40 minute movie and I cried for 2/3 of it. I also had netball training with my team, and it was nice getting to catch up with them. Overall, I had a fun holiday but I was happy when school started because I got to see all my friends!

Hello Highvale families, I would like share the highlights of my Easter school holidays. When school holidays started, we didn’t go anywhere in the first week, but that all changed in the second week. In the second week of the holidays we went to Gumbaya World, we went on slides, roller coasters and generally had a blast. A few days later we went to the Philippine islands, we explored and bought and ate lots of delicious food.

On the holidays I didn’t go anywhere far from home, but I did go and play tennis about 5 minutes away from my home. After this I went to a friend’s house for an Easter party with about 15 people there. At least half of them were children. We played a few games like the egg and spoon game but instead we used an actual egg wrapped in foil. Then we did an egg hunt and that lasted 5 minutes because there were so many people. My family stayed there for many hours and our family left at 11:00pm. On the final week of the holidays my mum and my brother left to go to America for the World Championships in VEX V5 Robotics. On the last few days of the holiday, I rested.
