Thanks also to the parents, friends and community members who attended and supported the concert. Your presence and encouragement are vital in fostering a thriving performing arts community within our School.
Here's an account of the Annual Concert from Melody, our Senior Music Co-Captain.
Melody Xu, Year 12
On 14 August, Years 3 to 12 students, along with Kilvonians, gathered at the prestigious Melbourne Recital Centre for the Kilvington Annual Concert.
The event featured a variety of music ensembles and choirs, showcasing a diverse range of musical styles and highlighting the incredible talent of our students.
Throughout the evening, several remarkable performances captivated the audience.
One of the standout moments was Kantabile’s stunning rendition of Bonnie Tyler’s 'Holding Out for a Hero', which mesmerised the audience with its powerful vocals, vibrant costumes and an impressive accompaniment from the Stage Band.
Another highlight was the massed item, 'The Parting Glass', a beautiful a cappella performance that reinforced the theme of celebrating friendships and cherished memories. The piece was a testament to the immense work and dedication put into perfecting it.
A huge thanks to all the students involved in preparing for this event, as well as to the Music teachers who dedicated their time and expertise to making this concert a success.
A special thanks to Ms Bull for her unwavering commitment, sacrificing countless hours to organise this unforgettable event.
Junior and Senior Vocal Soirees
On 21 August, our School’s vibrant musical community came alive with the Junior and Senior Vocal Soirees — two spectacular events which showcased the incredible talent of our students from Prep through to Year 12.
JUNIOR SCHOOL VOCAL SOIREE
The Junior School Vocal Soiree was a delightful showcase of young talent, where Prep to Year 6 students took to the stage in both individual and pair settings.
The evening was a joyous celebration of music, with Kilvington students presenting a varied repertoire that included classical pieces, lively jazz numbers, popular hits and enchanting selections from musicals.
Our youngest performer, Moses Ha from Prep, amazed the audience with his confidence and enthusiasm as he sang 'See you Later, Alligator'.
SENIOR SCHOOL VOCAL SOIREE
The Senior School Vocal Soiree, held later that evening, offered a more sophisticated and varied musical experience. Years 7 to 12 students took centre stage, performing both individually and in pairs.
This event showcased an impressive array of talents and musical styles, including classical arias, intricate jazz compositions, contemporary popular songs and dramatic pieces from renowned musicals.
The senior students brought a new level of maturity and depth to their performances. One of the many highlights was a powerful duet from a popular musical, which demonstrated the students’ ability to convey complex emotions through their vocal performances.
Thanks to everyone who attended and supported these events. Your encouragement and enthusiasm play a crucial role in the success of our performing arts program and in nurturing the talents of our young musicians.
