Prep AK Class News

Mrs Anna & Mrs Kate

The start of our journey at Trinity Primary School has officially begun!

In Prep AK, we have been very busy exploring our new environment, meeting new friends, learning lots and having so much fun!

We have begun investigating the importance of names, where they come from and how they can connect us to others. We have explored different ways we can make our names, in sand, using playdough, with blocks and using keyboards to type them.

We read a book called 'Alma, and How She Got Her Name' and invited our families to share the meanings behind our names. Some of our names are the same as special people in our lives, such as our grandparents or aunties. Some of our classmates have names that connect to a special place or different language that is important to our family history.

We began discovering the different names that Jesus is also known by and shared our ideas about these names:

We think that Jesus is sometimes called a 'King' because he is really important to us.
We think that Jesus is sometimes called a 'Son' because he has a Mummy and a Daddy.
We think that Jesus is sometimes called a 'Shepherd' because he takes care of us.
We think that Jesus is sometimes called a 'Teacher' because he shows us new things, like how to be kind.

Do you know where your name came from?
