Principal's News

Mr Rodrigues

Dear Families,

Welcome to our first School Newsletter for 2024. It was wonderful to welcome back all our returning families and of course all those new to our school community. Whilst it has been less than two weeks I feel we are all settling in well and getting used to the routines of school life once again, or for our new Prep Families, for the first time.

At Trinity Primary School our school values of Community, Excellence and Respect will be what we focus on each day to help us all achieve the vision and goals we have for our school. Teachers will consistently refer to these values to ensure that each day we are all striving to do and be our best. This year we hope that we can continue to build our connections with each other working together to ensure each child in our care is individully cared for and supported each day.

The beginning of a new school year is a great opportunity to remind each of us of the vison we have for all our students. Last year we, as a school community, reviewed our school's vision which I have include below. I thank all the staff, students and parents who contributed to this process and believe that it captures what we hope to achieve for all children who leave Trinity Primary School.

Trinity Primary is a welcoming and inclusive Catholic School in the

tradition of St Ignatius, where lives of faith, hope and love are formed in the light of

Jesus Christ.

Our Vision Statement

At Trinity Primary School we foster the values of Community, Excellence and Respect, so that every student is inspired and enabled to flourish and enrich the world.

Student Learning Overviews

Our student learning overviews are intended to give parents an outline of what their children will be learning in a variety of curriculum areas this term. It is hoped that this will enable parents to discuss the learning with their children and to ask questions of teachers to further develop the learning partnership between home and school.

School Enrolments

For all those able to attend our Monday morning gathering or Friday assembly last week you will have noticed our numbers have grown significantly since last year. We currently have just over 200 students across the year levels after adding two classes this year. Of course it is important that we are able to maintain these numbers and so we will once again be working hard to further build our school's reputation and the wider communities awareness of what we are able to offer children in and around our local area.  An extremely importatnt part of this awareness is the positive word of mouth promotion we are lucky to have as these first hand accounts contributre to greater enquiries and visits to our school.

New staff

This year we welcomed a number of new staff and I am confident that they will all quickly feel a strong part of our great community. I look forward to our families meeting and getting to know them at our Welcome Family Dinner (Multicultural Family Night) on Thursday February 15th from 5:30pm. If last years event is anything to go by it will be a great celebration of our wonderfully diverse school community.

Uniform

Thank you to all parents who have ensured children have started the year looking perfect in their school uniforms. A reminder that the sports uniform should only be worn on sports days and the academic uniform on other days at school.

Whilst black leather shoes are preferred, after consulting with students and parents, a decision was made to allow all black, plain runners with the academic uniform.

Coloured runners should now only be worn with the sports uniform on sports days.

Jewellery should be kept to a minimum and coloured nail polish should not be worn to school.

Communication

As Mr Ru has been communicating, we are in the process of launching our new school communication App Nforma. Whislt we expect that the new App will centralize and simplify the communication between home and school we also know that there may be some possible issues while this transition takes place. We will endeavour to keep you informed as we go and to ensure nothing is missed. There may be times initially where existing communication platforms are used and hard copy notes still sent home.

Prayer: A Student's Prayer for a New School Year.

Lord Jesus, I ask for Your help as I begin this new school year.

Allow me to experience Your presence in the many blessings You put before me.

Open my eyes to new challenges and exciting opportunities this new school year brings.

Open my heart and mind to new friends and new teachers.

Give me a generous spirit to be enthusiastic with my studies and courage to accept new opportunities. Help me to be attentive to my teachers and let me experience Your presence in my new friends. Jesus, inspire me to do my best this year!

Amen

School Safety - Drop off & Pick up Times

The Kent Street gates can be an extremly busy place at drop off and pick up times. A few reminders please to ensure that the safety of our children and each other is always our first priority.

  • Drive safely on Kent street at all times
  • Avoid blocking other cars whilst dropping off children
  • Children should be accompamied by an adult whilst crossing Kent Street from parked cars
  • Avoid parking across the driveway in front of the gates
  • Please do not leave cars running while you are dropping off children
  • Cyclist should dismount once they are on school grounds

School Office Entrance

It is important for our office staff that families do not enter or leave school through the front office doors during drop off and pick up times, 8:30am-8:45am & 3:15-3:30pm. During these times it is important that we all use the Kent Street entrance as this reduces the congestion that can occur at reception.  It is also difficult for Office Staff to monitor who is enetring and leaving the school.

Chinese and Vietnamese New Year

The Year of the Dragon

Chinese and Vietnamese New Year 2024 falls on Saturday, February 10th, 2024, and celebrations culminate with the Lantern Festival on February 24th, 2024.

We wish all our families a very happy Chinese and Vietnamese New Year and will acknowledge this impiortant day at our Assembly on Friday.

We encourage any student who would like to wear a touch of Red & or Gold which are both Lucky Colours for Vietnamese Chinese New Year. The choir is performing at assembly and can wear traditional dress for the performance if they want.

Trinity 100 Years Celebration 2024 - Save the Date! Saturday March 23rd

Whilst the name Trinity Catholic School was only adopted in 2016 after the amalgamation of three local Catholic schools, the original school, St James first opened its doors to the local community in 1924.  Our school has since served the educational needs of thousands of children and their families from Richmond and other Melbourne suburbs. This year we will be celebrating our school's past and present on Saturday 23rd March and would love all of our families and friends to join in this special celebration. Over the coming weeks you will be hearing all about the planned activities and we hope many of you will also be able to lend a hand in the planning and runing of this wionderful event.

We encourage all those with pre-school children aged 0-6 years to attend these wonderful sessions.
