STEM

Aveleen Gomes and Lisa Valastro

We are so excited to have ‘STEM’ as a new specialist subject at St Carlo Borromeo. STEM is now in full swing with children learning to be creative and innovative as they complete given investigations and challenges. It is so lovely to see the children walk into the new learning space each week with such enthusiasm and joy. When working on given challenges, the children have consistently remained engaged and focused.

WHAT IS STEM?

STEM- What it is and why it is important?

STEM stands for:

Science   Technology   Engineering    Mathematics

STEM refers to a set of interlinked subjects that are important foundational concepts for children in today’s world. It is all about learning how to learn and adapt. It encourages risk-taking through teamwork, communication and collaboration in an environment where it’s safe to fail and to learn from our mistakes. When we assist our children in recognising how these areas influence their lives today and into the future we are giving them the ability to understand how to develop solutions to complex problems. All very important life skills.

We look forward to sharing all the AMAZING learning that takes place in STEM throughout the school year.
