Student Support

Mrs Emily Sullivan

Dear Parents,

It was wonderful to welcome back our students in Years 1-6 last Thursday for a new school year. There were many smiling faces as friends reunited and the willingness to get into learning was evident, with a group of Stage 2 students eagerly lining up outside their classroom before the bell!

This week we welcome our Kindergarten students. I look forward to supporting them along with their teachers as they make this big, exciting step into school life. For our new families, my role in the school is to support students' learning and wellbeing, as well as to work alongside teachers in identifying learning adjustments that may need to be made for specific students in their class. I also work with our team of Educational Assistants and oversee some of the intervention programs we are fortunate to run in our school.

At times, it may be necessary for students to access other professionals for assessment purposes or counselling. I can guide parents as to what services are available, as well as access some support through our Inclusion Support Team at the Catholic Schools Office, or make referrals to our school psychologist, Brett Cocker, who works here Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Throughout Term 1, I will also be carrying out some screening assessments for Kindergarten students, new students and any others as identified by their teachers. These may include early literacy and language assessments, speech and hearing screening. These will enable us to identify potential areas of need where our students may require additional support.

Kind regards,

Emily Sullivan
