Before & After School Care
Welcome back everyone. It’s been absolutely terrific seeing all the children back again. Hooray! I am so happy to see happy faces especially back at OSHC.
This week is very exciting, to meet some new friends who have joined our Theircare service, we would like to welcome all of you back to Term 1. For the past two weeks we have being concentrating on getting back to our routine and getting to know each other, children from Lalor East and St John’s were able to create welcome flag as they used their hands to create hand prints on our welcome flag.
Based on our children's interests and suggestions we have also being busy creating tunnels, cubby houses and used our imagination for pretend dramatic play. Dramatic play, also known as pretend play, involves a child adopting pretend roles in order to engage in make believe scenarios.
The open design of this play aims to target a child’s imagination, encouraging them to accept roles to be something different and immerse themselves in a pretend world. The dramatic scenarios that occur from these imaginative creations can be further enhanced by using creative stimuli such as costumes, props or staged environments. When dramatic play involves other children, it is known as sociodramatic play, which becomes an invaluable opportunity to teach children cooperative social skills organically.
