The Hampton Primary School Dad’s Club has been formed to organise popular activities that provide dads of children attending HPS with the opportunity for connection and having fun in a friendly atmosphere!

 1. MANCAVE Friday 22nd March @ Stomping Ground Brewery, Moorabbin (NOT COLLINGWOOD)

*PLEASE NOTE: Tickets on sale Sunday Feb 25 from 8pm

All dads are invited to the 3rd Annual HPS Father’s Day Fundraiser. We are looking to raise a heap of cash for the school. Like the last few years, this promises to be one of the highlights of the Dad's Club calendar, a super fun night including:

Stand up Comedy with Comedy Legend Lawrence Mooney. Lawrence Mooney is a stand-up comedian, radio broadcaster and television host, widely regarded by fans and peers as one of Australia's funniest. As a radio broadcaster, Lawrence is considered one of the best in his field. He took Triple M Brisbane’s breakfast radio show to number#1 in the market and the following year won an Australian Commercial Radio Award (ACRA) for Best Entertainment Presenter in a metro market. Lawrence is well known as the host of Dirty Laundry Live that ran for 3 seasons on ABC, as well as his work on Agony Uncles, Agony of Life and Modern Manners. Lawrence regularly tours the country to packed houses including the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the Sydney Comedy Festival. Previously, his hilarious insights earned him Best National Act at the Perth Comedy Festival and Best Comedy Act at the Melbourne Fringe Festival.

2.  2 x Dads-Kids Camps (Nov 8-10 & Nov 29-Dec 1, 2024)

The camps were booked out last year so we are running two camps again this year at Forest Edge Camp in Neerim. The camps are only for HPS dads and their girls and boys that go to HPS (not for younger siblings in kinder and not for siblings no longer at HPS). More info to follow in July after the school holidays and we will open up registrations in August. No need to email us that you are keen (as we know you all are) and no need to book a spot as when go live, it is like a Taylor Swift concert (only more popular) with first in best dressed. Except for the 5 helpers at the Welcome BBQ who get first dibs of their choice of which camp they would like to attend as they stepped up and put in a huge effort contributing to the dad’s club and school community. Thanks Nudge, Bernhard, Carlo, Christian, Joel!!!

3. HPS Dad’s Club Cycling Club (HDCC)

WHO: If you’re a keen road cyclist or looking to get into it - why not join the Hampton Dad’s Cycling Club with over 30 dads!

HOW: To organise a ride, simply text message Rob Schmitt on 0416 174 650 and he’ll give you details of the rides. To be added to the group, you need to go for a few rides

WHEN: The Cycling Club ride Sunday morning (6am and 7am), plus Tuesdays (5:45am), Wednesdays (6:30am) and Thursdays (5:45am) each week - all leaving from the Ampol on Beach Rd (near Hampton St).

Why a Dad’s Club? What the research says.

•Suicide is the number 1 killer of men aged between 15 and 44 and 3 out of every 4 suicides are men.

•1 in 2 Australian males have had a mental health problem at some point in their lives

•70% of guys are there for their mates BUT only 48% would reach out to a mate for help

•“Harden up! Take a cup of cement!” Maybe this isn’t healthy as new research suggests some men will take their own life rather than appearing weak and asking for help

•Blokes, let’s connect, join in, talk, ask, listen, encourage action, check in with a mate whilst having a cracking time!
