Mr Sproule's Year 8 Woodwork students were getting into the Christmas spirit & creating their very own Christmas inspired work. Excellent work.

THS received Grand Champion at the Northern School Steers Competition on 22 November!

Technology Metal

Mr Sproule's Year 9/10 Metal students are in full swing completing their projects before the end of term.

Mr Sproule is thrilled at the achievements of his students work this year. There are some incredible projects. Great work everyone!

Careers

Year 9/10 students attended a career excursion to Armidale on 21 November, funded by REIP (Regional Industry Education Partnerships). Students visited Killens Smash Repairs, Rose Valley Steel Works, Timberline & Uniplan factories. It was a great insight into the latest technology & innovation across a range of trade areas. A great experience for all attendees, thank you to Mrs. Clothier for organising.

Final day of volunteering at the Tenterfield Railway Museum for 2023. Well done to Ms Olive & MC08 students who have worked tirelesly to help the volunteers this year.

Our MC08 students also sold products from the businesses they created this term at the Tenterfield Railway Museum Christmas Markets on Saturday 2 December.

Businesses include: ‘Pawsome Dog Treats’ – homemade biscuits for dogs; ‘Sweet Tooth Tenterfield’ – fudge, cookies and sweet treats; ‘Mocktails & Dreams’ – homemade mocktail drinks; ‘Paper Arts & Crafts’ – origami, cards, Christmas decorations; ‘CW Photography’ – prints and postcards; and there were also products from the ‘Who Gives a Crap’ fundraiser available, including toilet paper, tissues, paper towels & the latest addition, hand-made bon-bons.

RFS Cadets

Once again during Term 4 sport students were able to select RFS cadet training in lieu of sport each Wednesday. It has been a very successful program & we thank the volunteers who take the students through their paces & give them hands on experience. We hope some of the students go on & become volunteers in the future.

English

All students in Stage 4 and 5 start every English lesson with individualised, targeted and meaningful independent reading. Students conference with their teacher and complete a reading log, to track progress. This is paying off, with drastic improvements in our latest Check In data reading results. Well done to the English teachers and all Stage 4 and 5 students at THS!!
