Ash Wednesday Liturgy

On Wednesday our school community gathered for our Ash Wednesday Liturgy. This is an important day in our Church as it is the first day of the season of Lent. During this Liturgy, students, staff, parents and caregivers in attendance received ashes on their foreheads in the sign of a cross. These ashes are usually made from the palms used on Palm Sunday the previous year. This mark is a reminder of our mortality and a call for repentance.
Lent can be observed by all Christians, and it is a beautiful way to remember Jesus’ sacrifice for us and prepare us for the Easter season. During Lent, we remember the 40 days that Jesus spent in the desert being tempted by the devil. We do extra prayers, fasting, and almsgiving during this season of Lent.
A big thank you to our Year 4 classes who prepared for and led us all in our Liturgy.
