Students in Year 5 and Year 6 will be performing on the evening of the Festival of Music, Sunday 16 March 2025 at the Sydney Opera House. The Festival of Music usually concludes at approximately 9.45 – 10.00pm.
This is a compulsory school event for Year 5 and 6 students.
All Junior School students in Year 5 and Year 6 will be required to be at School on Sunday afternoon 16 March 2025 at 2.45pm in summer uniform and blazers (the Opera House can get quite cold – please be sure to bring blazers. Panama hats are NOT REQUIRED).
We ask that Students be dropped off at school at Tivoli Carline at 2.45pm for roll call in their classrooms, and at 3.00pm SHARP they will be bused to the Opera House for the rehearsal. We will then ask parents to meet their daughters at 5.00pm at the Foyer of the Sydeny Opera House and remain in Circular Quay to have an early dinner in various locations.
Junior School Students will then be seated at 6.45pm for the concert to begin at 7.00pm.
Please note that Monday 17 March, 2025 will be a rest day for students in Year 5 and 6 due to the late evening and significant time commitment involved.

Year 4 Excursion - Museum of Sydney and Hyde Park Barracks Excursion - Tuesday 18 March, 2025
On Tuesday 18 March, 2025 an excursion to the Museum of Sydney and Hyde Park Barracks has been organised for students in Year 4. Students will travel by bus to the museum and the Hyde Park Barracks and return back to Kambala in the afternoon in time for the usual carline collection or extra curricular activities. A permission form was sent to families earlier this week.
Students must arrive at school for 8.25am roll call on Tivoli lawn and immediate bus departure thereafter at 8.45am SHARP.
There will be no canteen orders on this day. Please ensure that your child has all of her lunch, recess & water for the day in their black Kambala Excursion bag.
At the Museum of Sydney, the girls will participate in structured learning activities that help them to identify different points of view about the early colonisation of Australia, and explain why people in the past may have behaved as they did. They will analyse artworks and displays of artefacts, handle objects, and work in small groups to learn about Aboriginal people’s experiences before and after the arrival of Europeans. They also listen to a re-telling of the story of the spearing of Arthur Phillip by Willemering and develop the skill of empathetic understanding as they play a game that demonstrates the challenges of communicating without a shared language.
After lunch at Hyde Park, the girls in Year 4 will visit Hyde Park Barracks. There, they will use a range of historical sources, including the World Heritage-listed building, to investigate what daily life was like for the male convicts who lived at the Hyde Park Barracks.
One parent volunteer from each class is required for this excursion. Please email Ms Sallos at melina_sallos@kambala.nsw.edu.au if you would like to assist.
On this excursion, students should apply sunscreen prior to arriving at school. Students must wear their summer dress uniform, panama hat, blazers, polished black school shoes, sunscreen (to be applied at home prior to coming to school) and a yellow ribbon . They are required to bring their own recess, lunch and water bottle, in their KAMBALA black excursion bag. Please pack a Kambala raincoat in case of inclement weather.
The person organising this excursion is Mrs Anna Goodman. Please contact Mrs Goodman directly should you have any questions at anna_goodman@kambala.nsw.edu.au.
