State Swimming

Catherine McAuley had 4 students represent the Bathurst Diocese at Catholic Primary Swimming Championship in Homebush on Wednesday 2 April 2025,

  • Archie Eades (11 yo 50 m freestyle, 50 m backstroke, 50 m breaststroke, 50 m butterfly)
  • Lulu Eades (Junior 50 m backstroke, 9 yo 50 m freestyle)
  • Franklin Boucher (11 yo 50 m backstroke)
  • Henry Crump (Junior 50m butterfly)

All students swam extremely well with Archie Eades just missing out on a medal for 50 m Butterfly, placing 4th then 5th in the 50 m breaststroke, 6th in the 50 m backstroke and 8th in the 50 m freestyle.

Lulu Eades swam a mighty effort not feeling 100% placing 8th overall in 50 freestyle.

Franklin Boucher swam well earning a PB placing 15th overall for 50 m backstroke.

Henry Crump also achieved a PB placing 13th overall in 50 m butterfly.

All represented the school well and proudly.

Rugby 7's

Tuesday the 25th of March, Catherine McAuley attended the  Primary School’s Rugby Union 7’s competition.

Team 2’s first game was against Kinross Wolaroi Team One.  This game was an even tussle with some fantastic defence by Ollie West, Barnaby Luelf and Alby McRae.  While in attack Louis Markwick and Alfie Griffiths expertly lead the hard running Franklin Boucher and Jaxon Murphy around the field. The end score was three tries all.

Game Two we came up against the eventual winners OPS. In this game there was no shortage of effort or team spirit.  However, it was difficult to keep up with the form of the OPS team. The final score being 8 tries to nil.

Unfortunately due to the loss against OPS it meant that we were unable to make the semi-finals. In our last game we played Kinross Wolaroi Team Two. In this game we saw Finley Brooking and Harry Vial cut loose their attacking prowess scoring multiple times each.

Some outstanding support play and defensive tackles by Felix Wolf and Oscar Johnson helped Team Two run out winners of this game seven tries to two.

Extremely proud of all the boys who participated in the day, demonstrating effort, team work and great sportsmanship. All Catherine McAuley boys were praised for their exceptional sportsmanship, behaviour and manners throughout the day by the organisers and volunteers.

Rugby 7’s at Orange Emus

Catherine McAuley was proudly represented by two teams at the recent Rugby 7’s tournament held at Orange Emus. Both teams played with great spirit and sportsmanship throughout the day, making the school proud.

One of the teams, made up of a mix of Year 5 and 6 boys, had an exceptional run, going undefeated in the pool games and semi-final. They played a thrilling grand final against Orange Public School and narrowly missed out on the win in a nail-biting finish. Their strong performance has earned them a place in the next round of the competition.

Congratulations to the team on their amazing efforts and best of luck in the next round!
