Deputy Principal Staff and Students Report

Child Safety
As we are all aware, each student in our community is precious. We take the privilege and responsibility of caring for and educating your child and supporting you as the primary educators of your children very seriously. It is with this in mind that we wanted to share a concern that we have as a staff. When on back gate duty in the morning, our staff are very concerned seeing a number of students getting out of the car from the off ramp of the Monash Freeway on Police Road. With the view to keeping all students in our community safe, we have communicated with the students and now with the Parents, Guardians and Carers to please do not drop off your children on the exit ramp of the freeway on Police Road. Please find a safer and more appropriate place for the children to get out of the car.
Permission Forms
In our continued efforts to work in partnership and ensure that children are safe and Parents, Guardians and Carers are suitably informed when students are engaged in any offsite activities, we require parental permission. This typically involves a permission form going to Parents, Guardians and Carers via PAM (the Parent Access Module). It is our duty to pass on all the relevant details and before a student is to leave on an excursion, to go on a camp, or to represent the College at sport etc. This permission needs to be granted on SiMON. We as a College require this generally 48 hours before the event so we have adequate time to prepare and meet Child Safety and Compliance requirements. This is a separate permission for every event (including each game for an SIS Sport season). We are asking Parents, Guardians and Carers to be supportive and grant permission on SiMON in a timely manner. Looking ahead to the whole school Mass and the whole School Swimming Carnival, please look on PAM and grant permission for your child to attend. If you are having any issues getting onto PAM please contact the Student Services desk and they will be very happy to assist.
Upcoming Events
Nazareth prides itself on being a community. Two big celebrations in our community for 2025 are the Opening of the School Year Mass on Thursday 20 March 2025 at St Patrick’s Cathedral in the city, and House Swimming Carnival on Monday 17 March 2025 at the Noble Park Aquatic Centre. These are highlights of the year and, whilst it is a break from the usual academic program, they are extremely significant occasions for the College. We expect all students to be in attendance on these days. We thank Parents, Guardians and Carers in anticipation of your support with your child’s attendance at these two events. Further details will be available on PAM for both events.
Contact
As we move into the middle of the term, a reminder to do not hesitate to contact staff should there be anything that would be good for us to be aware of, or to be doing to be able to best support your child with their wellbeing and learning. It is our desire to work in partnership with Parents/Guardians/Carers.
As we move into Lent, we pray this time is a fruitful one for you and your family.
God Bless
Mr Justin Duckett
