This past two weeks during reading we have been learning about NAPLAN rules how to use the Golden Rules to assist us to best answer questions. Students have been working hard using old practice NAPLAN test to strengthen their knowledge of reading, spelling and conventions of language. Good luck to all the Grade 5’s who will be sitting NAPLAN this week!

During writing we have been focusing on the use of descriptive language when writing a narrative and using persuasive devices and arguments when creating a persuasive text. We investigated the reasons why we use paragraphs when writing such as breaks between new ideas and how it assists us to understand what we are reading.
During maths, we have been working through a variety of concepts in order to broaden our knowledge of shape, patterns, calendars and time. Students have shown great development in their recall of number facts and even had fun working on our Esti-mysteries! Don’t forget to ask your child what that is!
During inquiry this term we have been looking at what Cyber Safety is and what it means to them as internet users. Students are able to tell us what makes a safe user “THE DO’S” and what makes an unsafe user - the “DO NOTS” in all aspects of being online. Students are currently making their own posters to display their knowledge. We would love for you to have conversations with your children around these do’s and don’ts to make sure they are all safe when it comes to online activity. We are looking forward to Mrs Tonkin's sister who is a barrister, to come to talk to use about this very subject.
Last week we played Ilim College at home. We were incredibly proud of our students and the way they conducted themselves. Sportsmanship was seen in all aspects of our games. We could not be prouder to see our students trying their best and cheering each other on!
This week we will be playing Bethal Primary School at Bethal!! GO BPS!!

Once again it has proven difficult to select just one student per home group to win the School Values Certificate this week. So many of our students continue to demonstrate our values of Kindness, Respect and Learning Together on a daily basis. We are so proud of all the students who continue to work hard to make our community a safe and secure place for learning. Below are our recipients this week, congratulations to all.
