Literacy

During reading sessions we have been learning to use the 'Golden Rules' when we answer questions about a text. These rules include:

  1. Read the whole text
  2. Identify the text type and author’s purpose
  3. Search for keywords
  4. Search for synonyms
  5. Eliminate silly answers

We have started a collaborative project on Australian Animals. Students have been collecting information and developed an information report on their chosen animal. They have learned to use sub headings, sort information, select appropriate images to support their information, and create a labelled diagram. See SEL/Inquiry below to see more about how the groups were created.

Numeracy

During numeracy sessions, the students explored time and were introduced to following vocabulary - minute, hour, second, o'clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to, analogue and digital. Students have had opportunities to read analogue clocks and match the time to digital clocks.

SEL/Inquiry

Students across all 3/4 classes have been organised into groups by their personality. All students completed a survey to identify what role they would be in the groups and were groups with students from each personality.
