Welcome to week 7 of term 1. We have had a very busy, exciting and thrilling term so far. We really appreciate your patience, cooperation and support.

LITERACY

During reading, students were engaged in reading different texts to understand and develop the skill of visualising. Visualising in reading means creating mental images of the text while reading that help the students to understand and comprehend the text.

During writing, students continued to develop and explore their skills of writing a recount. Students engaged and participated in some fun-filled experiences such as ‘Making Bubbles’ and ‘Playing a game’ etc. After participating in the experience, students wrote a recount about it by providing the sequential details and using the recount structure of who, what, when, where, why and how.

NUMERACY

Students have been working hard on their skills in maths lessons. This week’s focus has been on counting and recognising numbers. Students have been working with two and three-digit numbers, writing them, making them, and understanding the different ways of counting from any number. They have been practising to count sequentially and have been able to identify the numbers that come before or after in a counting sequence. Students worked hard and enjoyed different games and activities to stretch their thinking.

SEL/INQUIRY

During SEL and Inquiry, students have been learning about different ways of online safety.  Some examples are as follows:

  • Make good choices when you’re online
  • Be curious and ask questions
  • Know when time’s up online

Students learnt about trusting their feelings, when things don’t feel right. The important online safety messages are as follows:

  • Listen to your body clues
  • Close the screen if something doesn’t feel right
  • Ask a trusted adult for help
