As we move into the second half of Term 1, please have a look at the Year level pages to see what everyone has been up to across the school. As always, it’s been a busy fortnight at BPS!
Below are a few upcoming events we would like the school community to be aware of.

Ramadan
The Holy month of Ramadan has begun. Ramadan is a special month which involves fasting from first light (pre-dawn) to last light (post sunset). We have a number of students and staff at BPS that observe Ramadan, and as such offer a prayer space for our senior students in our open spaces. Anyone wishing to use a celebratory greeting throughout Ramadan can say, “Ramadan Mubarak” which means ‘have a blessed Ramadan’.
Looking Ahead…
Books in Homes - Friday 28th March Students will be able to come to school wearing red clothes as we have read a lot of books! Students will receive book bags to further encourage great reading at home.
Harmony Day- Friday 21st March
Wear cultural clothing or the colour orange
Harmony Day takes place on the 21st of March. The day itself marks an important date, as the 21st of March is the International Day for the Elimination of Racist Discrimination. Whilst Harmony Week is a uniquely Australian event, it coincides with global efforts for the promotion of equality and inclusivity, centring on Harmony Day. Harmony Day is the focal point of the Harmony Week celebrations.
At BPS, we will celebrate Harmony Week in our classrooms with a number of activities and with our Harmony Day Assembly on Friday 21st March. We look forward to seeing families come together for the afternoon. More information regarding the Harmony Day will be shared via Compass.
Attendance- EVERY DAY COUNTS
The new school start time this year is 8:35 AM. We are committed to providing our students with a great education, and the foundation for this starts with students attending school every day.
There is no safe number of days for missing school—each day a student misses puts them behind and impacts their educational outcomes.
School starts at 8:35 AM and finishes at 3:00 PM each day.
Enrolments /School Tours
Enrolments and school tours are open. If your child is attending 4-year-old kindergarten this year and will be starting school next year, please note that enrolment at the school is required. This process does not happen automatically, so we kindly ask that you come to the office to complete the enrolment.
We also recommend you check Compass and the newsletter for important calendar dates regularly as dates will be added throughout the year.
