International Women’s Day

Today, we celebrated International Women’s Day, recognising the incredible contributions of women in shaping our education system and leading the way for future generations. Women have played a massive role in education, driving innovation, fostering inclusive learning environments, and ensuring that our students have the support and opportunities to thrive.

Earlier this week, house captains, Chloe McKay and Evie Rau had the privilege of attending the Soroptimist International Women Leaders’ Breakfast at Kardinia Park. This event brought together inspiring women from various fields, reinforcing the importance of leadership, equality, and empowerment.

At school, our student leadership team has been proactive in promoting gender equality, spearheading a range of initiatives to highlight the significance of IWD. Their efforts culminated in a celebratory luncheon in the library today, where staff and students came together to acknowledge the achievements of women and reflect on the ongoing journey towards equity.

It’s fantastic to see our students embracing this important occasion, ensuring that conversations around equality continue well beyond just one day.

Geelong Schools Swimming Carnival

Congratulations to our swim team for an outstanding performance at last Friday’s GSSSA Swimming Carnival, taking out the Grand Aggregate! A special mention to our boys' team, who dominated the competition, winning every pennant across junior, intermediate, senior, and overall boy’s categories—a truly incredible achievement.

Well done to all our swimmers, and a big thank you to Pete Ingamells and Britt O’Regan for their work behind the scenes to support the team!

NAPLAN

The NAPLAN testing window opens on Wednesday 12th March. All year 7 & 9 students will look to sit the 4 separate tests over the following 9 school days. The NAPLAN testing helps us form a picture of where students sit academically in both their literacy and numeracy and this forms part of our analysis to ensure we are targeting students at their point of need.

2026 SEALP Applications

Our SEALP Information Evening on Wednesday was a great success, with a fantastic turnout of families eager to learn more about our Select Entry Accelerated Learning Program. It was wonderful to see so much interest in this opportunity, which provides an enriching and challenging learning experience for high-achieving students.

A reminder to families that applications for the 2026 SEALP intake are due by Friday, 28th March. For full details on the application process and program structure, please visit our website: 2026 SEALP Applications

We look forward to welcoming the next group of SEALP students to Belmont High School!
