We are pleased to share some significant updates about the ongoing and upcoming improvement works at Heathmont East P.S. These projects are part of our long-term vision to create a contemporary and inspiring learning environment for all students at Heathmont East.
New Front of School Building
As many of you have noticed, our new front-of-school building is nearing completion and is expected to be ready within the next couple of weeks. This new facility will include a reception area, modern offices, meeting rooms, a staffroom, and an upgraded first aid room. This marks an exciting new chapter for our school, providing a bright and functional front entrance that reflects our thriving community.
Future Master Plan and Playground Development
Our master plan for HEPS continues to move forward. Permanent buildings are planned along the Louis Street boundary, subject to funding announcements in the May 2026 budget. We are expecting the main building and the Cottage to be demolished in the April school holidays and those areas returned to open space for the children to play. We are also planning for the development of a new playground to complement these changes and ensure our students continue to enjoy safe, engaging, and inclusive play spaces.
Arrival of New Modular Learning Spaces
Beginning Saturday, 15th November, modular buildings will begin arriving on site. These upgraded learning spaces will replace the original classrooms in Building A (main building), which have proudly served our community for 63 years, as well as the Music Room, which has been closed to students in recent months. These alternate facilities will offer improved learning environments that provide more space for educational needs and support student engagement and wellbeing.
Temporary Adjustments
During this transition period, some areas of the school will be adjusted to accommodate the new buildings. The basketball rings will be relocated to the front asphalt area, and a portable volleyball net will be available for student use. Students will continue to enjoy the oval, dry creek bed playground, and open space at the front of the school. Please note that travel paths for staff, students, and parents will change several times between now and the end of the year as works progress. We will keep you informed at each stage to ensure a smooth and safe transition for everyone.
We anticipate the modular classrooms will be ready for use at the beginning of the 2026 school year. Thank you for your ongoing support, patience, and positivity as we work together to create the best possible environment for our students. These improvements will ensure that Heathmont East continues to be a place where every child can learn, grow, and thrive.

At this present moment, staff at HEPS are busy writing Semester 2 reports. These reports provide a great overview of students’ progress based on the completion of several assessments and classroom observations over the course of Semester 2.
Parents can access the reports via Compass on Thursday 18th of December. We encourage you to save a digital version of your child's report to access at a later date; this is especially important for our Level 6 students as they transition to high school.
Thursday 18th December is the last day that ALL students leaving HEPS can access reports.

This week, we were very fortunate to have our new local MP, Mary Doyle, visit our school. She spoke to our Level 5 students about her journey in leadership and what it’s like to serve as a member of Parliament. Mary also presented the school with three new flags, which was a wonderful gesture that we greatly appreciate. The students were highly engaged and asked thoughtful questions about leadership, community service, and making a difference. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to connect what they are learning about leadership to real-world experiences.

Our Level 4 students recently enjoyed an unforgettable experience at Ferngully Adventure Camp near Healesville! With perfect weather and exciting activities, the students had an amazing time bonding, learning, and challenging themselves. A huge thank you to our dedicated Level 4 teachers for planning such an outstanding adventure, one that created memories our students will cherish for years to come. We are so proud of everyone for embracing the spirit of resilience, growth, teamwork and adventure! Currently, we have our Level 6 students at Don Bosco in Safety Beach. Stay tuned for updates on this in our next newsletter.

On Tuesday, we held a special Remembrance Day Assembly over the P.A. system due to the rain. A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated School Captains for organising such a thoughtful and moving ceremony, and to the students who shared their poems and stories about Remembrance Day.

Congratulations to both our All-Star Boys and Girls teams who participated in the Regional Finals at the State Basketball Centre yesterday. A huge congratulations to our Girls team, who have progressed to the State Finals in December. We are so proud of you — well done!

Congratulations to our 5/6 Softball team, who competed at the Region level on Tuesday. The team won two out of their 5 games. Well done on a great achievement!
