Mary Doyle, Federal MP Visit
On Monday the 10th of November, Mary Doyle (Federal MP for Aston) visited our school and gifted us with a set of Australian flags . The Level 5 cohort were very fortunate to be invited to listen to Mary speak about her role as a leader in Australia. Level 5 students asked some excellent questions, including how Mary has been able to solve problems for the community. Thank you to Mary Doyle for your lovely visit. (Students were especially comfortable in their pyjamas for PJ Day)!
Literacy
Level 5 students have been continuing to work hard on drafting, editing and revising their creative narrative stories. Students have been focused on ensuring that their stories have bold beginnings, mighty middles, and excellent endings. This week, students are paying close attention to checking for correct punctuation, capitalisation, and dialogue.
Maths
Currently, Level 5 students are revising the concept of Measurement and Time. Last week, students created a weekly schedule and calculated how long they spend on different activities. This week, students have studied the duration of international flights, and units of length, including decimal numbers.
Inquiry
In small groups, Grade 5 students have been continuing to work hard on their topics, including researching, scriptwriting, and some even beginning to record themselves! Everyone is learning lots about natural disasters, Indigenous land management, space, and Australian towns, and feeling excited about creating their very own BTN segments.
Important Events
This Friday, Level 5 will be leading Friday’s Wristband Assembly due to the Year 6s being on camp! Students are very excited about this opportunity to step up as they begin to transition into becoming the new leaders of the school next year.
