Principal's Report

Dear families,
The St Brigid’s community aspires to be caring and supportive to our members when they are most at need. This week we were saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Allan McDonald, father of current staff member, Colby, and of our College Vice Captain, Curtly. The McDonald family have had a longtime connection with St Brigid’s dating back to 2011 and it is at this time that we wrap our arms around them and show our support and share our condolences.
On Tuesday evening, 25th November, we will have our formal farewell to the Class of 2025 at the Graduation Liturgy (5:30pm at SMJ church) and the dinner following. This cohort have been a close knit group throughout their time at the College and I know that they are already planning their 10 Year reunion!! I wish these wonderful young adults all of the best in the pursuit of goals post school.
Next Friday, 28 November, we will hold our end of year Liturgy and Student Awards ceremony for Years 7-11 at St Michael and John’s Church at 12pm midday. All family members are welcome to attend. We ask that students return to school after the awards to ensure that their lockers are emptied and clean, as we will be moving into Stage 2 over the break and there will be new spaces available in 2026.
Staffing for 2026 is close to complete. Today I can announce the appointment of:
Bo Kronberg – an experienced Maths Methods and Physics teacher.
Rohit Chand – currently an Assistant Principal and a teacher of Chemistry and Biology. Olivia Spadea – graduate Health / Foods / PE teacher. Olivia completed her final placement with us this year and impressed us with her energy and capacity.
Victoria McCann will be returning from maternity leave on a part time basis.
I would also like to thank the teachers who will not be returning in 2026 and wish them well:
Paul Chiita
Holly Ruwoldt and
Helena Croser
The Australian Government is seeking to protect young Australians at a critical stage of their development, through world-first social media age restrictions taking effect on 10 December. Information from the eSafety commissioner regarding the new regulations on age restrictions on social media can be found here. We will be asking students in Year 7 and Year 8 this year to return their laptops to the school on 28 November so that we can update the software, undertake maintenance where required and to ensure compliance with the new regulations over the summer break.
The final newsletter for 2025 will be distributed on 5 December.
Stay safe,
Gerard Raven
