STEM UPDATE

in 5/6 students have been preparing for their museum visit next week by researching one of the 17 prehistoric animals on display in Melbourne Museum's dinosaur walk. We've had some students choosing to code on scratch to demonstrate their learning, with others using Google slides or posters to showcase their research.

Museum Museum excursion important information:

On Thursday 20th November we will be spending the day at Melbourne Museum to further explore dinosaurs and geography. If you have not yet consented to this free excursion, please do on compass asap.

The bus must leaves at 9:15am. If a student arrives after this time they will remain at school. Please ensure your child packs enough food for lunch and a snack in a labelled plastic bag, along with a labelled drink bottle of water. Students will also need to bring a hat, preferably also labelled. We will depart the museum at 2:30pm and aim to arrive back at school by 3:30pm.

If you have any questions, please speak to your child's classroom teacher.

3/4 STEM UPDATE

In 3/4 STEM students have been working to complete their learning task, a coded fidget spinner in Scratch. There have been lots of variations to their creations, including some adding score counters, sounds and different backgrounds. The students have really challenged themselves to solve their problems independently and learn how to code efficiently.

P-2 STEM UPDATE

in P-2 STEM we have been completely our learning task, with students getting to create a coded fireworks display on Scratch Junior. Students added varying features such as sounds, repeat or disappearing code blocks. They have then been building their knowledge by creating their own independent creations, we've seen everything from Mario, to crawling babies and dinosaur creations. We've also been exploring the bbots with students creating book mazes for the bbots to explore.
