Year 2 excelling in their writing skills

This term, Year 2 students at South Plympton have focused on consolidating their imaginative text writing skills.

Students have read a range of interesting and well-written narrative texts and have been engaged in direct instruction on how to plan a narrative, build tension in a story, and construct an interesting problem and solution. Students are learning the writing technique of 'showing, not telling' a story using descriptive language, actions and sensory details to paint a literary picture for the reader.

The students have thoroughly enjoyed the writing process and look forward to sharing their stories with other Junior Primary classes.

Year 6 students showcase their entrepreneurial skills

In Week 4, Year 6 students at South Plympton campus put together some nice and yummy items for sale, including waffles, peach iced teas, spiders, brownies, pancakes, and frozen treats. Most products ranged between $1 - $2. This was the culmination of the required Maths they had covered to set up a small business for $25.

It was great to see the students negotiation skills as the end of business drew near and their inventive ways to sell some final stock, like chocolate sauce on ice and 2 for 1 deals.

We are very proud of our students, as they have raised $1,151.05. Our students have had a Christmas card design competition, and the money will be used to reach out to our local community with a Christmas card designed and paid for by our own students.

Year 3/4 Camp

During Week 3 of Term 4, our Year 3 and 4 students embarked on an exciting few days at Mylor Adventure Camp! It was an excellent chance for everyone to spend time with friends, try different new things, and step outside their comfort zones.

Raft building was one of the big highlights, with students working together to design, build, and test their creations in the pool. There was no shortage of teamwork, laughter, and a few splashes along the way! Our Year 4s showed great bravery on the giant swing and flying fox, while the Year 3s threw themselves into bouldering and the rope obstacle course, showing determination and plenty of smiles.

The camp buzzed with energy and a sense of community spirit. Whether it was during group games like Excalibur or the always-popular Gaga Ball, everyone got involved, encouraged one another, and had a fantastic time.

It truly was a memorable camp. Full of fun, friendship, and moments we’ll remember for a long time!

2026 Year 7 Orientation Day

We were delighted to welcome our Year 6 students to the South Plympton Campus for their Orientation Day, as they prepare to begin their exciting journey into Year 7 next year.

The day was filled with fun activities, friendly competitions, and plenty of opportunities to build new connections. Families joined us in the morning for coffee and a warm welcome from our Executive Principal, Andrew Linke and our Secondary School Principal, Andrea Grear.

In the evening, everyone came together again to share paella, desserts, and drinks — a wonderful time of connection and community as students, families, and teachers built new friendships and celebrated the next chapter ahead.

OSHC Highlights

How do we create our activities at OSHC, and how do we run them?

To us, it is essential that children are directly involved in our program planning. It fosters leadership as they run the activities, and it encourages creative thinking during the planning phase. Gabi, one of our OSHC mentors, worked hard to put together detailed plans for the next fortnight. Together with the educators, we asked essential questions, including what makes an activity engaging, and why it's important to include all children's input. She demonstrated practical planning skills by using descriptive language and even provided a step-by-step guide.
