Outdoor Ed Camps - A Big Adventure

This week more than 60 excited students headed out at lunchtime, trailers packed to the brim with gear — including an impressive number of swags — for our annual Outdoor Education Camp. Students from Years 7, 8 and 9 took part, each ready for a different kind of challenge and adventure.

The first afternoon was full of activity and teamwork as tents went up, swags were unrolled, and students launched into their chosen recreational activities — fishing, bike riding and kayaking. Students also cooked their own dinners that evening, which took a while and involved plenty of patience, creativity and humour as everyone worked out how to make camp meals happen.

On the second day, students set off on their respective hikes:

• Years 7 & 8 walked the scenic trail to Archer’s Knob, and

• Year 9 completed the longer trek from Bakers Beach to Badger Head.

For a number of students, this hike also formed part of the Adventurous Journey component of their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award — a fantastic effort and something to be very proud of.

Congratulations to all students who attended, showed resilience, tried new experiences, and leaned into the challenges of outdoor life. And a massive thank you to the staff who supported and supervised the camp — this week simply would not have happened without you.

This was one of our biggest camps yet, and what an incredible week of growth and adventure it turned out to be!
