Mental Health

& Wellbeing update

SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) is an important part of the development of students’ capacity to build healthy relationships, resilience and confidence. In the last edition, we discussed Poppie and our Dogs Connect program. This week, we will look at another of our SEL programs, The Resilience Project.

What is The Resilience Project?

At Bridgewater Primary School, we're excited to be delivering The Resilience Project, a whole-school wellbeing program that helps students develop the skills they need to thrive both at school and in everyday life.

The program is built around four key principles: Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness, and Emotional Literacy (GEM). Through fun, engaging and age-appropriate lessons, students learn practical strategies to build resilience, strengthen positive relationships, and support their mental wellbeing. Each session includes using our Children's Wellbeing Continuum, interactive activities, discussions, and tasks completed in student journals to encourage reflection and reinforce learning.

The Resilience Project takes a whole-school approach, with resources available for students, staff and families. We look forward to sharing more of the parent resources and practical wellbeing tips with you throughout the term and the year, so that these important conversations can continue at home.

Students participate in weekly Resilience Project sessions led by our Wellbeing Chaplain, Megan and supported by Miss Coffey. We are already seeing students enthusiastically embracing the program and look forward to continuing to build a positive, connected and resilient school community together.

Megan also shares an end of term update for The Resilience Project in our newsletter.

Thanks,

Miss Coffey and Megan
