Notify the school of your child’s absence

From the end of Term 2 2018, all Victorian government schools are required to contact parents/carers as soon as practicable on the same day of an unexplained student absence. If your child is absent on a particular day and you have not contacted the school to explain why, the absence will be marked as unexplained.

It is also important that you understand that if your child arrives after 10am they will be marked as absent for the morning session and if they leave before 2pm, they will be marked as absent for the afternoon session. Remember to sign your child in or out through the Compass Kiosk in the office if you are dropping them off after 9.15 or picking them up before 2.45pm. This is a Department of Education procedure.

This system also promotes daily school attendance. Going to school every day is the single most important part of your child’s education.

Have you missed a text from us checking where your absent child is? You can get in touch with us by calling, 9725 4933, or emailing, croydon.sds@education.vic.gov.au so your child’s absence can be recorded correctly.

Please remember that it is your legal responsibility to notify the school if your child is going to be late or away from school. You can log your child’s absence by logging onto our Compass portal, calling the school, or sending an email to the school email address.

Placement Teachers

You may have seen some new faces around the school this week. Currently we have 3 pre service teachers from Monash University completing placement with us. These teaching students are in their second year of teacher training and are completing a placement in a special school to help them build their understanding of how to support students with disabilities with their learning. It is great to have Amy, Kate and Charli with us.

We also have 2 qualified teachers who are completing their Master's qualification on placement with us. These teachers already have teaching positions in other schools but are with us for a placement to learn more about specialist school settings. We welcome Marcia and Sarah
