Principal's Report -

Bird Rock off Maria Island - Tasmania

Year 2/3 swimming

Well done to our year 2/3s for completing a great week of swimming, being so organised and following all instructions to ensure they were safe and had a great time. We received some lovely feedback from the Kyneton Pool staff this week:

"Please pass on to all the students how well behaved and enthusiastic they all were! And special appreciation to both Callum and Aaron for their annual volunteer duties! What would we do without them!"

BBQ/Fundraising Update

We had a lovely morning of democracy sausage cooking last Saturday with lots of great helpers' staff, parents and students. We were a sell out by lunch time despite an emergency run to Coles late in the morning. Next time...more sausages. Our profit ended up at approximately $785.00 which was a brilliant outcome. Added to our recent donation from the Lancefield Hotel (ANZAC day raffle), this has really helped to support our fundraising efforts so far this year. On behalf of LPS School Council thank you to all who helped and supported our school.

Our fundraising has enabled us to purchase from our wish-list:

New large school gazebo

School Values and School Houses tear drop banners

New large TV screen for a classroom to replace one that has reached the end of its life

Cross Country

Another great Hanging Rock District Cross Country event well attended by many of our year 3 to 6 students. It was a beautiful day at the Rock and everyone ran their best! Congratulations to Emma, Kayleigh and Ayla for reaching the next level of running and will be competing at Castlemaine next Friday. Thank you to Meagan for her hard work at this event. LPS is responsible for organising this event for our Cobaw sports group and it is always a lot of work. A special call out to Erin for her amazing support and work as well :).

Attitudes To School Survey

Each year the years 4 to 6 students are invited to complete the Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS). The AtoSS is a voluntary student survey offered by the Department of Education every year to help schools and the department understand students' experiences of school. Students are asked about their thoughts and feelings about their school, their learning, relationships with other students, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general. ORIMA Research Pty Ltd has been contracted by the department to manage the collection of the online survey. Our students really enjoy having a say and we appreciate their opinions. We will be conducting this online survey with students between Monday 26th of May and June 13th. A letter with further information was posted on Compass for relevant families on 8/5.

National Walk Safely to School Day

Join us at the Hay and Grain store to walk to school next Friday 16th of May. Everyone is welcome :). Meet us at 8.20am!

Finally...

I am reading ... just finished "Into the Wild" by John Krakauer (I would have to say a hugely impactful and moving story and highly recommended) and now onto "The House in the Cerulean Sea" by T J Klune

I have been listening to ... Ryan Holiday "The Daily Stoic" podcasts - this one I recommend - The secret to better habits in 2025

I am enjoying ... this crazy warm autumn while it lasts but we really could do with some decent rain I am sure you would all agree.
