Anti-Racism Contact Officer

Who is an ARCO?
An Anti-Racism Contact Officer (ARCO) is a member of the teaching staff nominated by the principal to assist in implementing the Anti-racism policy in schools. The ARCO supports the Principal by promoting anti-racism education, helping manage reports of racism, and monitoring incidents of racism. The ARCO also provides support to build staff understanding of the impact of racism on student learning and wellbeing, offers advice to students and staff on responding to racism incidents, and suggests strategies for addressing racism within the school.
Additionally, the ARCO is trained to offer advice to parents, carers, teachers, and students about the procedure for resolving reports of racism and may act as a support person or advocate during the process if requested.
