From the Principal

Welcome back to Term 2. I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter period with their families. Yesterday we joined together to celebrate the Resurrection Story, a wonderful experience shared by the whole school community. Thanks again to Mrs Janky for her tireless work in making the Easter Story engaging and relevant for all students and staff. I would like to welcome some new students and their families to our school this term; Sophia, Jenson and Amaya started this week. We hope they enjoy their time in our wonderful school community.
On Monday evening we went to bed with the news that Pope Francis had passed away, Pope Francis was the leader of the Catholic Church. He was loved and revered by many people around the world. Pope Francis was known for his kindness, humility, and the way he always reminded us to take care of one another, especially those who are poor or hurting. Pope Francis believed in love, peace, and treating everyone with respect, no matter who they are. May he Rest in Peace!
This week we welcome MACSEYE to our school. They started the service yesterday and will offer both Before and After School Care for our families. MACSEYE are a little further advanced than our previous provider, so I would ask all enquires to be directed to the helpline offered on the promotional flyers. All bookings also need to be made directly through MACSEYE and not the school office. From the bottom of my heart, I wish to thank all the parents who have been understanding and supportive throughout the last 12 months of the YLV period. Onwards and upwards to a much improved service.
Tomorrow we will once again join together as a community for our ANZAC Day service. The service will begin at 9:00am sharp and will take place in the school Library.
We have a busy few weeks coming up, please make sure you are keeping an eye on Operoo as well as all the dates in the Important Dates tab of this newsletter.
School Improvements:
It is always nice to see lots of improvements happening around the school. A few major and minor details for families. We have had major plumbing works completed outside the Year 2 room, this involved some heavy duty digging and pipe repairs. We also have had the Chicken Coop area enclosed with an amazing fence built by Steve Hermans. We have 15 brand new Ipads for our Year 2 room and 20 second hand ChromeBooks (but still newer models than the ones we had) for our Year 4 students. We have also found a landscaper to complete the works on the retaining wall behind the Art / Japanese Room.
Election Day BBQ and Cake Stall:
Get your aprons ready!!!
STM Parents & Friends will be looking for volunteers to help run an Election day BBQ and cake stall at the school during election day voting (Saturday May 3rd).
A volunteer sheet will be available when school returns next term.
