Secondary Sub School Rooms 19 - 27

Stefania Mantinioti - Secondary Sub School Leader
Dear parents and carers,
I can’t believe we have already reached Week 10 of Term 1! It has been an incredible term in the Secondary Subschool, filled with engaging learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom.
In the past few weeks, I have had the chance to observe some fantastic Maths activities. Students have been actively participating in hands-on learning and theoretical tasks focused on number and place value. They have also been developing their understanding of measurement, including length, mass, capacity, volume, and area. Through practical activities such as comparing heavy and light objects or measuring capacity during cooking lessons, students have been able to apply their knowledge in meaningful ways.
Our Future Ready students have thoroughly enjoyed their Interschool Sports, especially as the weather has cooled down. Lacrosse, in particular, has been a highlight, offering both physical and mental benefits. The sport involves continuous movement, requiring bursts of speed and quick directional changes, making it a great way to build both cardio fitness and strength.
Meanwhile, our VPC students have been out exploring some of Melbourne’s iconic landmarks, including Federation Square, Hosier Lane, and Melbourne Central. They took the time to appreciate the vibrant street art in Hosier Lane, discussing how different artworks made them feel and selecting their favourites. Most importantly, they developed essential travel skills by navigating the train system, using Myki cards, and finding their way to Melbourne’s city centre.
As we wrap up Term 1, I hope all students take the time to relax and recharge over the break. We can’t wait to see everyone back in Term 2, ready for more exciting learning opportunities and fun-filled activities!
ROOM 23
Room 23, VPC, had a busy start to Term 1. Most of the students started attending SBAT/ VET courses. Students were engaged in Literacy, Numeracy, WRS and PDS sessions throughout the week. Students enjoyed going to the Age library to understand different text types and exploring what libraries offer and afterwards enjoyed a nice meal at Broadmeadows food court.
Students practiced their independent travel training skills and explored the vibrant Melbourne city by learning about maps and locations and finished off the day by enjoying food at Melbourne central food court. Students also learnt the importance of voting and how to vote by participating in an incursion by VEC.
Students loved to see Victor every Tuesday. Students enjoyed Chinese Dragon dance, World Autism day and many more.
